ITEM 1 - WELCOME BY CFSA PATRON
1. The Patron warmly welcomed members to the 2006 Reunion and the strong turnout from the CFSA membership.
ITEM 2 – INTRODUCTION BY COMDT CFS
2. Comdt CFS thanked Sqn Ldr Jim Gardiner for continuing to maintain and administer the CFSA website. Comdt updated the membership on CFS matters of the moment including the on-going maintenance work at RAF Scampton’s runway. CFS is progressing well with new Qualified Pilot Instructor (QPI) and Tactics Instructor (QTI) schemes with both schemes being rolled out to Typhoon and Tornado OCUs. Overseas visits remain an important element of CFS work with visits to Oman, Singapore and Iraq recently conducted. UKMFTS is likely to be a dominant theme of work over the next few years with preferred bidder on track for announcement at the end of the year. The role of CFS will need to be clarified within the framework of MFTS.
ITEM 3 - MINUTES OF THE LAST MEETING
3. The Minutes of the last meeting were accepted as a true and accurate record.
Proposed: AM Sir John Severne
Seconded: Sqn Ldr Frame
ITEM 4 - MATTERS ARISING
4. Commandant in Chief. The likelihood of a Royal Commandant in Chief had diminished although discussions were still on-going.
5. Comdt CFS agreed to provide an update at the next AGM.
6. CFS Museum. A process of stocktaking had been completed and professional advice was being sought to ensure the appropriate maintenance of the items stored in the ‘Mosque’ building. Concern was expressed that the items should be appropriately stored and catalogued. The plan was to provide a suitable location close to HQ CFS to enable greater access to CFS archives although there was continued reluctance for investment in any future facility until the implications of MFTS were clear.
7. It was decided that the Hon Sec would provide an update at the next AGM.
ITEM 5 - FINANCIAL REPORT
8. There are 2 accounts used for the administration of the CFSA funds: the Reunion Fund and the Souvenir Fund. They are administered separately to ensure that reunion event and souvenir business are self-balancing, but are managed such that there is sufficient capital between them to ensure that we do not go overdrawn between the expenditure on a reunion and the receipt of payment from members.
9. Reunion Fund. The Statement of Account of the CFSA (Reunion) Fund for the year ending 30 Apr 06 is at Enclosure 1. The balance as at 30 Apr 06 was £2123.18 compared with 2339.00 at the start of the FY resulting in a £215.82 reduction in the end-of year balance compared with last year.
10. Souvenir Fund. The Statement of Account of the CFSA (Souvenir) Fund for the year ending 30 Apr 06 is at Enclosure 2. The Souvenir fund net assets at the end of the FY stood at 3633.92 having started the year at £3481.85. The end of year figure comprised £2716.88 cash and £917.04 stock.
The Financial report was accepted:
Proposed: ACM Sir Patrick Hine.
Seconded: Sqn Ldr Dean.
ITEM 6 – EVENTS OF THE DAY
11. The Hon Sec gave an overview of the day’s activities.
ITEM 7 - ANY OTHER BUSINESS
12. It was suggested that Vice Admiral Johns, a recent 2nd Sea Lord, would be a suitable candidate as a Guest of Honour. Other suggestions including the CEO of SERCO and Lord Stevens, former head of the Metropolitan Police, would be considered.
ITEM 8 - DATE FOR 2007 REUNION
13. The date for the 2006 CFSA Reunion was set for 12 Jul 07.
