ITEM 1 - WELCOME BY CFSA PATRON
1. The Chairman warmly welcomed members to the 2007 Reunion and commented on another particularly strong turnout from the CFSA membership.
ITEM 2 – INTRODUCTION BY COMDT CFS
2. Comdt CFS thanked Sqn Ldr Jim Gardiner for continuing to maintain and administer the CFSA website. Comdt updated the membership on CFS matters of the moment including the future of CFS within the Military Flying Training System. The role of CFS will need to be clarified within the framework of MFTS. This would be the last CFSA Reunion that the Comdt would attend as Chairman and he passed on his gratitude to the membership and the CFS staff for their support during his tenure as Chairman.
ITEM 3 - MINUTES OF THE LAST MEETING
3. The Minutes of the last meeting were accepted as a true and accurate record.
ITEM 4 - MATTERS ARISING
4. CFS Museum. A process of stocktaking had been completed and professional advice had been sought to ensure the appropriate maintenance of the items stored in the ‘Mosque’ building. The Curator of the RAF Museum had attended CFS and expressed his satisfaction at the storage conditions. Once again, the final location of the CFS Museum was subject to decisions regarding the long-term location of CFS and the Hon Sec agreed to provide an update at the next meeting.
5. It was decided that the Hon Sec would provide an update at the next AGM.
ITEM 5 - FINANCIAL REPORT
6. The Hon Sec detailed the 2 accounts used for the administration of the CFSA funds: the Reunion Fund and the Souvenir Fund. They are administered separately to ensure that reunion event and souvenir business are self-balancing, but are managed such that there is sufficient capital between them to ensure that we do not go overdrawn between the expenditure on a reunion and the receipt of payment from members.
7. Reunion Fund. The Statement of Account of the CFSA (Reunion) Fund for the year ending 31 Mar 07 is at Enclosure 1. The balance as at 31 Mar 07 was £2743.75 compared with 2414.83 at the start of the FY resulting in a £328.91 increase in the end-of year balance compared with last year.
8. Souvenir Fund. The Statement of Account of the CFSA (Souvenir) Fund for the year ending 31 Mar 07 is at Enclosure 2. The Souvenir fund net assets at the end of the FY stood at £2984.89 having started the year at £3626.23. The end of year figure comprised £1246.77 cash and £1738.12 stock.
9. Income Initiatives. This year’s financial position represented a reduction of £323 compared with last year. This is not of significant concern although it promoted the committee to consider revitalising elements of the CFSA income streams to ensure the long-term viability of the Association. The PA to Comdt CFS has sought to revitalise the CFSA memorabilia to make it more attractive to Association members and current CFS personnel alike. Many of the new items were presented at the Reunion and members were encouraged to view them in the Candidates Mess. Furthermore, given the subscription is for life, the recruitment of additional members was initiated to serve the dual purpose of ensuring the longevity of the Association whilst also ensuring a steady stream of income.
10. The Financial report was unanimously accepted:
ITEM 6 – EVENTS OF THE DAY
11. The Hon Sec gave an overview of the day’s activities.
ITEM 7 - ANY OTHER BUSINESS
12. Silver Fund. The Hon Sec briefed the membership on the CFS silver and the history of some of the pieces. Unfortunately, many of the pieces, including some historic items, had fallen into disrepair and a survey had been conducted against which a recovery plan would be initiated. There were funds available for some limited repair and this would be started over the coming months. The Hon Sec agreed to update the Membership at the next meeting.
13. The President passed on his thanks on behalf of the membership to the Chairman and Hon Sec; both of whom were departing CFS in the near future.
ITEM 8 - DATE FOR 2008 REUNION
14. The date for the 2008 CFSA Reunion was set for 17 Jul 08.
